Meet The Team

Maureen Carr
Artistic Director

Maureen has been acting for over 40 years in Theatre, TV, Film and Radio. She founded Witsherface in 2015 with Jacqui McAlpine to encourage women to write and perform comedy.

Witsherface has come a long way since then, as well as working with professional artists we have also created and developed several projects with communities in the East End of Glasgow.

We want to create a safe space for people to try out new writing and collaborate with other creatives. One of our aims is to develop a writing program for those who feel marginalised and would like the opportunity to write their own material. We are looking to develop all kinds of writing genres, not only comedy!

We have several projects in the pipeline and are looking forward to getting them up and running!
